Scrub regularly to prepare for tanning
Throughout the year, we must take care of our skin with regular scrubs. Just as you do for your face, your skin (body) also needs this care!
In summer, this habit must also be maintained. Our skin needs to be deeply cleansed and invigorated after winter. A good scrubbing of the skin will allow you to obtain an even and much more durable tan. The dead cells are eliminated, leaving room for the young cells that surface after exfoliation. They are brighter and more able to withstand sun exposure. You can perform a scrub with a horsehair glove on the less sensitive areas of the body. For the face, the neckline and the more sensitive areas, a gentle scrub is preferred. Use only natural products made from apricot kernels or make your own scrub before summer!
We recommend 1 scrub per week which will also maintain your tan contrary to what you think 😊
We use natural active ingredients
To prepare your skin for tanning and stimulate it in this sense, there are some very effective natural active ingredients. This is the case of
which is used by the Amazonian Indians as a food coloring and skin protector. Its oil comes from a red seed that is 100 times richer in beta-carotene than carrots. Urucum powder is also an antioxidant and is rich in minerals that are essential for skin health: selenium, copper, zinc… For your skin care, go for urucum!
You can also use the carrot in the form of an oil or an oily macerate. They say carrots make you look good. But they are very rich in beta-carotene and vitamins. The oil, used on the skin, is protective. It can be combined with sweet orange essential oil or apricot kernel oil to apply to the skin. Start the care about two weeks before the summer and the first sun exposure. This little cocktail could also help you tan faster.
How to keep your tan as long as possible?
Your tan is perfect, but the “catch” is that it disappears much too quickly. Here’s how to maintain it:
The vacations are over, and the beach is a happy, but distant memory. However, you should not stopmoisturizing and nourishing your skin! By nourishing the skin, we preserve its suppleness. And it needs it badly. Moreover, the wind, the sea and the sun accelerate its drying, and one peels then quickly, by losing with the passage the bronzing which one took so much trouble to obtain. Consider using a moisturizer enriched with vitamins C and E, as well as natural antioxidants. It will help you make your tan last, again and again.
Use a tanning extender
If you thought that tanning creams and products were just a marketing ploy to sell you yet another product, you may be wrong. The formulas they contain contain active ingredients that stimulate the skin’s melanocytes. They are the ones who synthesize the melanin that colors the skin and they are in the starting blocks during sun exposure. After the vacations, use these products to prolong your tan. But choose a natural composition!
Continue to expose yourself to the sun
The vacations are over? So what? It’s okay to continue to expose your face and/or body to the sun when the opportunity arises! A beautiful sunny Sunday is coming up, so put on your swimsuit and find a nice place to settle down: by a river or a lake, in your garden… Of course, this requires having a place to settle down. If you are lucky enough to have a garden or a terrace, don’t hesitate to multiply your tanning sessions.
But be careful, even if you want to prolong your tan, don’t skimp on sunscreen, whatever your skin color.
How to tan faster?
Here are some tips on how to get a quick tan, but not just any old way.
Don’t skip out on good sun protection
Let’s face it: the goal is not to fry like a chicken on a spit, but rather to adopt a soft tan as quickly as possible. And this, by not skimping on the protection of the skin against the dangers of the sun. We never forget the sun protection: the sun cream does not prevent from tanning. And contrary to popular belief, a cream with a low protection factor does not make you tan faster. So we always use a good cream, with a high protection factor and adapted to the color of its skin. Is that okay?
So how do we go about it?
Focus on the right foods
Food supplements and certain foods boost the skin’s natural ability to tan. Eating fruits and vegetables rich in beta-carotene helps the skin tan more easily, without burning. Ingested beta-carotene protects the skin from UV damage and is an excellent antioxidant that helps fight free radicals and oxidative stress. Simply put, you need to increase your beta-carotene intake to get a faster tan! Eat peppers, carrots, melons and green leafy vegetables for this.
We moisturize and prepare the skin
This last point leads directly back to the very first point of this article. In order for the skin to tan faster, it must be prepared. Hydration is essential for this. So remember to drink enough fluids during the day and moisturize your skin regularly with natural moisturizers! Nourishing the skin is also a plus: consider using oils rich in fatty acids that will nourish it deeply. This prevents peeling, by the way. Moisturizing and nourishing skin care products are used daily to maintain your skin and your tan.
DIY: natural products for tanning
What home-made products can I use to perfect my tan and take care of my skin in summer?
An after-sun with urucum
We talked about urucum in this article… It’s time to test it! In a bottle, add the following ingredients, mix and shake vigorously before use:
- 20% urucum oily macerate (or calendula, as desired);
- 30% coconut oil: soothing, nourishing, soft and deliciously scented, it helps regenerate the skin after exposure to the sun;
- 50% vanilla oil macerate: softening, penetrating and protective, it offers an irresistible scent to the skin in addition to protecting it.
As it is an after-sun care, it must be applied to the skin after exposure to the sun.
A glittery oil to make you look good
When the sun shines on us, our skin glows. Well, in theory. To help it stand out, you can also apply a delicately glittery oil. It will highlight your body and its natural tan. To make it, you will need to mix a number of ingredients in a pump bottle (preferably a cream pump). Always choose a naturally scented vegetable oil, obtained by first cold pressing and organic. Here, you have the choice and you can even allow yourself to mix them! Coconut, macadamia, apricot, argan, almond, urucum, carrot… Treat yourself.
In a bowl, mix all the following oils:
- 2 tablespoons of hazelnut oil;
- 4 tablespoons of apricot oil ;
- 2 tablespoons of argan oil;
- 4 tablespoons of sweet almond oil;
- 4 tablespoons of macadamia oil.
Add two teaspoons of carrot macerate, then 25 drops of vanilla flavoring or fragrance of your choice. Mix, then add two teaspoons of natural mother of pearl and mix briskly. For a long shelf life, add five drops of vitamin E. Transfer the mixture to the container of your choice and remember to shake the bottle before each use.
Here we go! You have all the keys to return from vacation with a beautiful tan and gorgeous skin because you will have taken care of it of course 😊
Have a good holiday, Presidents!
