What hair routine for my nappy hair?

[Fr]

To have beautiful hair, you must first get to know them. But we all know, frizzy hair requires special attention in terms of care. Your hair routine will depend on the texture of your hair, their degree of crimp and length but also your lifestyle. To know everything about your mane, follow the guide!

What to do when shampooing?

We were talking to you a few weeks ago about how choose your shampoo. This week, let's focus on a current trend: natural hair. ?

Good news ! Dry hair does not need to be washed often because their shape prevents dirt from clinging to it.

Before taking a shower, start with moisturize your hair. Use a moisturizing spray: its light mist helps to slightly rehydrate the hair without wetting it.

At the time of shampoo, adopt the Low-poo : listen to your hair and wash them only if necessary.
It is also important touse mild products. In general we make two shampoos, one clarifying and one moisturizing. The clarifier will come rid the hair of residues, of the pollution, dead skin and the excess of sebumWhile the shampoo moisturizer, softer with less detergent, has agents nutritious to start rebalance the fiber and soften it.

Try to read carefully the records of your shampoos to avoid those that contain alcohol and silicone (sodium laureth and lauryl sulphates). Small clue: more foam shampoo, more is bad sign ...

Finally, always finish your ritual with a conditioner that will moisturize, repair and facilitate the disentangling of your mane. Small tip: for dry to very dry hair, we will favor masks and creams that are more nourishing.

How to style without damaging them?

After the shampoo, dry your hair properly with a microfiber towel that absorbs water faster (ideal for all those who are pressed!).

To disentangle them, two instruments: a comb with wide teeth (or a suitable brush) and your fingers.
Rule among the rules: NEVER handle your hair dry, to avoid breakage.

It is then better to braid your hair (yes yes!) or better, make vanilla! Unlike mats, they are made and unmade quickly and are less likely to damage the hair.
This tip will allow you to get beautiful curls on waking. ⏰

Before sleeping, do not forget to cover your hair with a silk or satin scarf. Unlike cotton, these two materials do not absorb hydration hair.

What to do next morning?

Start by removing your silk scarf and then melt a knob of butter or vegetable oil in your hand (Spread the dose well on the palms and fingers) then loosen the vanilla. The butter will drop a film of extra protection on the hair and give it a slight shine.

And here you are with a beautiful "twist-out"!

⚠️ Warning: to keep your mane healthy, it is not recommended to perform a "twist-out"
every night!

Bonus: A homemade mask with yoghurt and coconut milk

The coconut milk used in cooking is one of the particularly effective products to take care of frizzy hair. To make this home made mask, mix 20 cl of coconut milk with a natural yoghurt.

It is applied to all hair and allowed to rest for 15 minutes before rinsing well.
Natural and effective, this mask will deeply nourish your hair! ?

To nourish your hair from the inside, nothing better than a cure of 3 months of Resolution N ° 1
In addition to becoming stronger and healthier, this food compliment will help them grow!

    Hello,

Being in confinement (I can do more besides), I take care of my hair.
After the shower, I hydrate them, and then I make several small buns or glued mats. I hydrate them morning and evening and I undo the braids or mini bun only before washing. Is it ok or should I leave my hair loose from time to time?

    1. Madame La Présidente says:

      Hello Hélène,

This pretty good in itself because you take care of your hair and hydrate it.
However, be careful not to over-tighten the buns or mats so as not to break your hair and avoid pulling 😉
      Beautiful day,
      Take care of yourself !

  3. Marion says:

Hello, then I have a problem

Since the start of confinement I decided to take care of my frizzy hair,
-I cut my tips because they were almost all split
-I use a lot of vegetable oil (almond oil, olive, flax… all mixed with water, coconut butter) that I apply every day, then I finish by making braids
-I wash my hair every 8-10 days to reduce hair loss / hair breakage

here is my concern is that my hair continues to break (even when I make braids), is not solid and still falls even if it is much less than the beginning of my care but all the same it's disappointing to lose so much when you want to see them grow and get stronger. Would you tell me what the problem is?

    1. Odile de Madame La Présidente says:

      Hello Marion,
      Thank you for your comment.
If your hair breaks, it is because it has been weakened (lack of nutrition or hydration, straightening, coloring, ...).

If your hair continues to break, don't hesitate to change your routine. Your hair fiber is certainly saturated with the oil you apply daily. Indeed, the hair needs oil but also hydration. On a daily basis, replace the oil with a moisturizer and see the effect over a few weeks. Make an oil bath every 1 to 2 weeks.

      1. Marion says:

Thank you for your answer, you think that increasing my water intake per day (at least 2l) can help me in this problem?

        1. Odile de Madame La Présidente says:

          Hello Marion,
Drinking water is very important and contributes to the proper functioning of the hair fiber. This will not solve your problem at 100% but will allow you to have better hydrated hair and skin
          See you soon,

  4. Janick says:

Hello, my daughter is 8 years old and has frizzy hair that is falling out a lot right now. Just by running my fingers through it, my hand is full of hair.
I never tighten her braids too much, I'm European and I don't go to the Afro hairdresser for her. We have a hair routine, shea butter, shampoo and conditioner. Then I style it and leave it for 8-10 days without touching it.
Could you give me some advice?
    Thank you so much.
    Janick and Lou

    1. Madame La Présidente says:

      Hello Janick, Lou,

To begin, it is important to finish the cause of this fall.
A priori, this does not come from styling.
Medication, stress, or poor diet can promote falling.
I advise you to massage your daughter's hair 1 to 2 times a week with castor oil mixed with sweet almond oil for example. Massage about 5 min.
I also advise you to read this article which will give you many tips: HERE

If the problem persists, do not hesitate to consult your doctor to find out if you can give him a Hair Boost cure.

      Very nice day,

      The team Madam President

  5. Anaïs says:

    Hello,
I have a few questions about the hair routine in which order to shampoo the conditioner and the mask.
    Shampoo, conditioner, mask?
    Or shampoo mask, conditioner?
But is it possible to do
    Shampoo mask only?
Then concerning the hydration I find it difficult to retain it in my hair, I only use oil for hydrates (olive oil, a small amount of castor and avocado and seed oil grape.)
And I spray them with water with a spray every time I comb them.

    1. Anaïs says:

I have low porosity hair, which method can I use?

      1. Madame La Présidente says:

        Hello Anaïs,

I advise you, as the last rinsing water, to dilute half a glass of water in 1L of cold water.
This will close your scales and maintain hydration in the hair fiber 😉

    2. Madame La Présidente says:

      Hello Anaîs,

You can start with the treatment, then the shampoo and conditioner (or leave-in)
You can completely, depending on your hair type and their needs, just shampoo and mask!
To retain the hydration of your hair, I advise you, after your routine, to rinse your hair with half a glass of apple cider vinegar diluted in 1L of cold water 😉

Hello. Am a total novice and there is one thing that I never understood. I have to shampoo first and conditioner then mask. Or do I start with the mask and so on ?.
    Thank you

    1. Madame La Présidente says:

      Hello Kira,

Start with the mask, then the shampoo, and the conditioner or leave-in 😉

  8. Cecilia says:

    Hello.
I would like to know if after applying the leave in, it is necessary to rinse the hair?

    1. Madame La Présidente says:

      Hello Cecilia!
The leave-in is a cream that you do not rinse 😉
