DIY: Green clay, against oily hair!

Green clay, a lethal weapon against oily hair!

Oily hair is my, our, your worst nightmare ...

Since your dear and tender adolescence, (it is usually during this period that the hormones are carried away) your scalp decided to make his own, forcing you to shampoo yourself every other day if not every day.

So, of course, we say to ourselves that it is normal, that our body changes, secretes more hormones and therefore increases sebum ... Blablabla ... It's been a long time since we spent this period of life, but our hair, them, remained blocked in the past. You must have tried, like me, thousands of anti oily hair shampoos, made questionable mixtures, nothing helps.

Fortunately, Madam President is there for you!

We found THE solution to permanently get rid of this excess of sebum that spoils your life: with our DIY made from green clay, we will fight against our oily hair!

End of suspense : green clay

1 / Preparation

It comes from nature, more particularly from a volcanic rock. Powder is recovered and mixed with other ingredients. These pastas have always been used for medical or cosmetic purposes. This is good because this type of clay contains sediments capable ofabsorb excess sebum and retain toxins, so that your scalp can finally breathe. Yesiiiiiiiii!

Here are the steps to find healthy hair on a healthy scalp!

Everything lies in the clay-water mixture. Mix in a bowl about four tablespoons of green clay powder with somewarm mineral water until you get a smooth, even elastic paste.

Little trick : add a spoon of honey to your mixture, this will prolong the elasticity and moisture of the mask. Then, free to customize your dough. After all, who better than you knows how to tame your hair?

You can add a few drops of essential oils.

For example, you can use lavender oil (healing and regenerating), rosemary (revitalizing) or sage (grows hair). Oil of Tea Tree is recommended against dandruffas for Yilang-Ylang oil, she will fight against hair loss while giving them back the shine to your hair. You have the choice !

2 / Application

Here we go ! Take in your hand a good dose of clay and apply it directly on your scalp.

Distribute the preparation evenly over your entire head, and above all, we do not touch the tips!

Indeed, the latter are often already very dry or even brittle, so avoid the potential disaster. So prefer an oil for the tips, as linseed oil or almond oil, which fortify and repair these brittle hair.

So back to our clay. Once the mask is applied, gently massage the scalpthen let him ask about twenty minutes. It's time to relax and take care of yourself.

Besides, do you know that green clay also applies as a mask for the face?

If you have oily skin, kill two birds with one stone and enjoy it for yourself Exfoliate the skin with green clay. Promised, Madam President will explain everything about the clay mask in a future DIY.

20 minutes have passedit's time to wash your hair. Apply your usual shampoo and presto, goodbye greasy hair ! The results will be visible from the first application. So, of course, Madam President provides you with all the tips and tricks to be beautiful every day, and that's already great, but it is not necessarily magician. (Why do you doubt it?) Renew this ritual twice a week, then decrease the frequency as your scalp changes.

You are now armed to face these teenage revivals thanks to our DIY based on green clay to fight against oily hair!

Now that you have resolved your oily hair problems, consider nourishing your hair from the inside naturally with a treatment of food supplements shaped like candy? Get your dream hair!

Do not hesitate to share your experiences and your advice for all the Presidents, and together we will overcome our recalcitrant hair!

    Hello,
I wash my hair every 2-3 days or so. During confinement I managed to wash them every 5 days but since I go out again I don't last more than 3 days. My hair grows very quickly and itches itch. Could the clay mask help me to have less oily and less itchy hair? Thank you in advance for your answer 🙃

    1. Lorrine Brion says:

Hello Emmanuelle! It is normal that your hair grows faster when you go out, because it is subject to external aggressions (pollution in particular) 😥 The clay mask reduces excess sebum and will therefore help you to have less oily hair. You can add 3 drops of tea tree or lavender essential oil (if you are neither pregnant nor breastfeeding), to help cleanse your scalp and thus limit itching!
We also recommend that you use our Resolution N ° 2 detox tea, which also cleanses the scalp! To fully benefit from its effects, you can use it in particular in rinsing water and moisturizing spray 💪

      1. Emmanuelle says:

Hello, thank you for your response. I'll go do that right away 🙃 !!

Hello, my 10 year old daughter is starting to have dull and oily hair !! Do you think I can make him make this mask? Or does it have to go through the “oily hair” box? For my part, I only wash my hair once a week almost always! What about the buttons? a little above is it effective? (same I never had a lot of pimples, as a teenager I used an antibacterial soap and a moisturizer, I don't know if it was good or if Nature had really spoiled me about it)

    1. Madame La Présidente says:

      Hello Marie!
You can easily make this mask to your daughter 😉
Green and white clays have healing properties and are recognized against the proliferation of acne.
You can make a mask with preferably rose water, and apply it on your pimples.

      Keep us posted!

Hello, I tried the clay mask for my oily hair, but the clay was almost impossible to remove and the texture of my hair was very powdery when dry. My hair was very difficult to style since it all intertwined. Still, I rinsed and washed very thoroughly. I had to do at least two more hair washes with multiple shampoos for the clay to finally start to come off. I'm not sure if I skipped a step or if my hair just isn't made for this type of mask. Do you have any advice for me? Also, I was wondering if it would be better if I bought a ready-made clay mask instead?

    Thank you and good day!

    1. Madame La Présidente says:

      Hello Jade,
      Don't give up 😉
This treatment is a real miracle!
I advise you to try again by adding a little more rose water and oil of your choice.
Take your time again to rinse and apply care if necessary.

To finish, do a last rinse with cold water (1l) in which you will have previously poured the equivalent of a glass of apple vinegar

    2. Kelly says:

For the record, you should know that shampoos bought in stores are in many cases the cause of our oily hair! So you have to opt for the most natural shampoos possible, read the ingredients! This clay trick will only get better!
      Here it is 🙂

      1. Sophie Castelain Youssouf says:

Thank you very much Kelly for this additional information! You are absolutely right 🤗

  7. Célia says:

    Hello,
I tried this new clay shampoo and my hair remains a bit “sticky” despite several rinses. Is this normal?

  8. elodie642002 says:

Hello, I recently did a Brazilian smoothing, I must have missed a stage, I don't see which one.
But as soon as I do a shampoo, my hair following after getting out of the shower in fact, which hardly dries, as if there was product in the hair, oily.
Do you think that clay can do good in this case?
    thank you in advance
    Elodie

    1. Madame La Présidente says:

      Hello!

We do not know each other in Brazilian straightening, but if you have an excess of fat, green clay will be your ally 😉
If this feeling is the result of a chemical process, we cannot confirm that it will be effective!
      Stay informed.

      Beautiful day,

(after proofreading it's better 🙂) Hello, currently I wash my hair every day. I would like to switch to once or twice a week but it's a hell of a challenge given the pace or they get greasy. Impossible for me to go through the sebum cure that everyone is talking about at the moment (even confined!)…. I feel so sticky after 3 days my hair is greasy from root to tip…. So I wanted to use the clay preparation to space out my shampoos. I wanted to know if it was mandatory to wash your hair with our usual shampoo after rinsing out the clay? Or just a rinse with water is enough. Moreover, what do you think of cornstarch, maizena type to space the shampoos? I tried but I can't find any real difference, maybe the first few hours my hair looks more airy and less oily but it doesn't last over time. Thank you

    1. Odile de Madame La Présidente says:

Hello Marion, thank you for your comment 💗
It is not mandatory to wash your hair after applying the clay mask. Rinsing is enough to make them clean and get rid of the fat.
Cornstarch is very effective in dry shampooing, but we recommend a cornstarch-green clay mixture for more effectiveness!
Do not hesitate to give us a feedback after having tested these 2 methods😉

    1. Jennifer says:

Personally, I used Shampoo every day. With the green clay I manage to last 4 days! It's not huge, but it still holds 4 times longer!

      1. Madame La Présidente says:

        And that's already a lot!

  11. Angel says:

I will test this method! I have the hair exactly like this (greasy and dry at the ends). I have been using organic shampoos for a few months but I still have very oily hair. I also space out the shampoos a lot more, even if I have to walk around with oily hair… and at the moment I don't see any improvement. So I'm going to try this mask!
I already use green clay for my skin and I can clearly see the difference (I no longer have acne pimples).
    Thanks for the tip!

    1. Odile de Madame La Présidente says:

Hello Angel, thank you for this return.
Do not hesitate to tell us about your experience with green clay.
Have you tried dry shampoos? You can also do a dry shampoo with green clay and cornstarch?

  12. Nappilla - Sandra says:

    Hello
This is a really interesting article, clay is undoubtedly an ideal product for the hair but also for the skin.
Actually green clay is excellent for oily hair, for some who have dry hair it will be necessary to opt for white clay.
I really like your article I myself wrote an article on the different clays: green, white and pink.
Thank you for your fascinating article and why not come and take a look at my blog where I also deal with this subject ?

    Good evening,
I've been trying to wash my hair for about 2 months with Ghassoul (every 4 days) or baking soda (1 week if and a week not). I have always had oily hair (washing every other day) and since q I stopped industrial shampoos completely no method seems to work and my hair is still oily even after washing, see more oily & #8230; it's pretty demoralizing. On the 24th I tried with green clay & #8230 ;. ditto, they are heavy and remain fatty.
In short, tomorrow I will try again with Green clay, but this time I will make the mixture with lukewarm water and wet hair before applying & #8230 ;.
Any advice, maybe I'm doing something wrong?
    Thanks 🙂

    1. Madame La Présidente says:

      Hello Raquel,
A priori, I do not read anything that is bad in your hair routine, but I do not know all the details.
I will advise you to add a few drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil for example, which will have a beneficial effect on sebum production.
I also invite you to read our article below, which will give you lots of info on how to come to oily hair 😉

Hello, I have trouble rinsing off powder masks, especially clay, despite 2 shampoos and a large rinse. Tips?

    1. Madame La Présidente says:

      Hello Marine,

Logically, with what you have in place, everything should go! you can finish by rinsing with apple cider vinegar.
But it's normal that the texture of your hair looks different 😉

  18. Mélanie says:

    Hello
What do you think of the addition of vinegar in this preparation in order to fight against oily hair?
thank you in advance for your return

    1. Madame La Présidente says:

      Hi Melanie,

you can easily add vinegar to the preparation.
We prefer to use it in raking water, mix with clear water, in order to close the hair fiber (maintains hydration) and the shine it brings to the hair 😉

  19. Julie says:

    Hello
Should we apply the mask on hair dry or wet?

It is best to apply them on wet hair ?

You can put 5 drops of EO of Ylang Ylang 😉

  22. Denyse says:

I tried the clay mask for the first time on my thin hair but not oily and not colored, it is very shiny with more volume. Is it enough to do this mask once a month to revitalize my hair?

    1. Madame La Présidente says:

      Hi Denyse,

This may not be enough to revitalize your hair completely, but 1 treatment per week will do them a lot of good!
Remember to feed them from the inside with a course of food supplements once or twice a year 😉

      See you soon!

  24. Laura says:

Hello, I'm just doing homemade cosmetics and I ask myself a few questions: can we keep this shampoo? Is it necessary to rinse with a shampoo then or abundant water enough?
thank you very much for your answer

    1. Madame La Présidente says:

      Hello Laura!
You can actually use green clay as a shampoo.
In this case, do not add honey in the preparation! only Water / Clay / Essential oils!

      Nice day 🙂

      1. Marie-Anne says:

        Hello,
Following a “breakdown” of my usual organic shampoo, I tried to wash my hair with clay because I had some in stock. I washed them last week. Volume effect assured me who has yet the smooth hair ... I returned today. Same. I waited 1 week between the 2 shampoos and I asked around me: no one was “shocked” by the way my hair looked.
NB: I do not let stand 20 minutes, I wash my hair normally with the clay diluted in water + a few drops of essential oil (tea-tree or ylang-ylang, depending on…). The clay poses just enough time to wash, about 5 minutes. Besides, I use the excess clay to wash my body with it, after all, it's natural!
So I wonder if the clay “restores” the natural balance of my hair, which must make me accept another sensation…

      Hello Aurélie,
You must rinse the clay as much as possible, then shampoo 😉
Keep us posted on the results 😉

      1. Karine says:

Good evening Should we make a hydrating mask after?

        1. Madame La Présidente says:

          Hello,

Yes, depending on your hair type, you can opt for a hydrating mask, or apply a leave-in for example 😉
